Detectives seek witnesses to fatal Lind hit-and-run

LIND – Washington State Patrol detectives are still seeking witnesses to a vehicle versus pedestrian fatality Oct. 30 on U.S. Highway 395.

Nicholas A. Cooper, 31, of Lakewood, was killed in the incident near Milepost 81.

Troopers believe Cooper was killed about 3:30 a.m. after possibly being hit by a white passenger vehicle, “whose driver may or may not know their vehicle(s) struck a pedestrian.”

Cooper’s body was later found and an Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputy notified his next of kin.

According to the patrol, the unknown vehicle was southbound and struck Cooper in the passing lane of the highway.

“Tragically the pedestrian was killed as a result of the collision,” the patrol reported. “The pedestrian’s body was discovered in the roadway by law enforcement driving in the area.”

Detectives are still seeking information and/or witnesses to the collision, or information about anyone who may have struck something in this area. Anyone with information is asked to call detective Lewis Stevens at 509-904-5102 or email him at [email protected].
