DeBoer sentenced in drug trafficking case

Fentanyl, cocaine, meth moved from Tri-Cities to Spokane Valley

SPOKANE — A local man convicted in connection with trafficking drugs from the Tri-Cities to Spokane Valley has been sentenced to prison.

Jordy Scott DeBoer, 32, was sentenced to 272 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised probation by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas O. Rice. DeBoer previously pleaded guilty to one count each of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine and intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

DeBoer’s sentence stems from a March 30, 2023, drug sting at the Motel 6, 1919 N. Hutchinson Road, adjacent to Interstate 90.

The FBI’s drug task force executed several warrants and the motel, seizing 24.7 pounds (approximately 83,000 pills) of fentanyl-laced pills, 2 pounds of methamphetamine, 1 pound of cocaine, two firearms and more than $13,000 in cash, records show. Two people, including DeBoer and Mathew Sailors, were arrested, as well.

During the bust, DeBoer was found in a hallway, where he tried to discard the firearm, records show. He also was in possession of a black duffle bag containing controlled substances.

DeBoer was previously arrested and indicted in federal court for trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl pills from the Tri-Cities to Spokane, records show. After his indictment, Deboer was released from federal custody to attend inpatient drug treatment.

After release from drug treatment, DeBoer connected with Sailors and resumed dealing drugs out of the Spokane Valley Motel 6, where he was arrested, records show.

“The significant amount of illicit drugs seized in this case demonstrates the need for law enforcement intervention to address the fentanyl crisis,” U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref said.

The case was prosecuted by Asst. U.S. Attorney Caitlin Baunsgard.
