Othello man among Eagle starters

Perez logs two tackles against Idaho

CHENEY – An Othello man is among the starting lineup for the Eastern Washington Eagles football team.

Isaiah Perez, 21, of Othello is a 6-foot-2, 2020 Othello High School graduate.

Perez is starting as a defensive tackle for the Eagles (2-3) football team.

On Saturday, Perz logged two solo tackles against the visiting Idaho Vandals. The Eagles lost to their Big Sky Conference rival, 44-36.

Prior to attending Easter, Perez was a redshirt freshman football player at Brigham Young University in Utah.

Perez is a two-time all-state defensive lineman, having played for the Othello Huskies under Coach Roger Hoell.

After high school, he also served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 272-pound lineman was also the first three-time heavyweight wrestling state champion in Washington Interscholastic Activities Association history.

Perez is the son of Erminio and Mandi Perez of Othello.
