Connell man among five arrested after trying to pay for sex

Men to appear in Othello court

OTHELLO – A Connell resident is among the five men arrested July 29 in a reverse prostitution sting.

Cesar Chavez-Alcala, 28, of Connell, is facing charges in Othello District Court, along with Victorina Garcia, 45, of Mattawa; Isaias Zarata-Pineda, 41, and Juan Salas-Camacho, 61, both of Moses Lake; and Javier Gonzalez-Arroyo, 31, of Othello.

All were all arrested for misdemeanor patronizing a prostitute, according to police.

During the sting, investigators arrested the five “sex buyers” and interviewed at least one sex worker, police said.

The men were arrested by citation and will have to appear in Othello Municipal Court to answer the charges.

The department also opened one human trafficking case, officials said, noting one man is being investigated for second-degree promoting prostitution, a Class C felony.

Police are withholding the name of both the suspected prostitute who was interviewed and the suspect in the human trafficking case pending completion of an investigation.
