ELTOPIA — A Connell man sustained injuries in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 395 early Sunday morning, Aug. 21.

Efrain Medina Ruelas, 44, is also facing a driving while under the influence charge after the 2:18 a.m. crash near the Eltopia exit, the Washington State Patrol said.

Ruelas was northbound on the highway when he veered onto the shoulder and his 1998 Ford Ranger pickup overturned, the patrol said.

Despite wearing a seatbelt, Ruelas was injured and transported to a Richland hospital, the patrol said.

The cause of the crash was driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the patrol said.
