Didier leading in campaign financial support

Miller self-funding entire campaign

PASCO – At first glance at campaign finance records, it appears former Franklin County Commissioner Rick R. Miller is leading incumbent District No. 3 Commissioner and Chairman Clint Didier.

But a closer look at Public Disclosure Commission records shows just the opposite.

As of Wednesday, Aug. 17, Didier had more community financial support than Miller.

Campaign records show Didier received $2,100 in cash contributions and $943.25 donated in-kind contributions toward his re-election bid.

Didier received $1,000 from the Tri-City Association of Realtors on Aug. 11, records show. The same day, he also received $100 from Charlotte Benjamin, a resident of Spokane Valley. The Franklin County Republican Central Committee added $1,000 to Didier's campaign war chest on July 21.

Didier personally provided the in-kind services valued at $943.25 on May 16, records show.

Public Disclosure Commission records also show four "contributions" to Miller's campaign.

Unlike Didier, all are self-contributions.

Miller reported giving himself $217.20 and $4,218.05 in in-kind contributions on July 1 and June 22, respectively, records show. He also gave himself $500 in cash on May 31. On May 25, he gave himself $943.25 in in-kind contributions.

In other words, Miller has not received any donations from outside sources while Didier has collected $2,100.

Didier and Miller will square off in the Nov. 8 general election.

In the Aug. 2 primary, Didier topped Miller by almost 500 votes.

Didier received 2,880 votes (54.06%); Miller received 2,399 (45.03%).

The results of the Aug. 2 primary were locally certified Tuesday, Aug. 16.
