Driver of stolen vehicle backs into patrol vehicle

OTHELLO - An Adams County Sheriff's Office vehicle sustained minor damage Thursday, Aug. 4, when a deputy tried to apprehend the driver of a stolen car.
The driver and occupants of the stolen car escaped arrest and deputies are asking the public for help identifying the individuals involved.
According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, deputies simultaneously responded to a reported stolen car and an attempted traffic stop involving the same vehicle on Aug. 4.
As one deputy was taking compiling a report on the vehicle taken from the 2200 block of West Barbara Road, another located the car in the 2000 block of West State Highway 26, a Sheriff's Office report said..
The second deputy followed the stolen vehicle to the 2200 block of West Kenfield Lane and attempted a traffic stop, the report said. The unknown driver of the stolen car then backed into the Sheriff's Office patrol unit and the occupants fled on foot.
The Sheriff's Office vehicle sustained only minor damage, as it had a front bumper guard, the report said.
Deputies recovered the vehicle and searched the area for the suspects, the report said, noting they were not located.
