PASCO — A local teenager was ticketed for driving too fast and causing a crash Monday, Sept. 27.

Lincoln R. Smart, 17, of Pasco, was eastbound near Milepost 7 on Interstate 182 at 4:45 p.m. when he failed to slow for traffic, according to the Washington State Patrol.

His 2012 Chevrolet Sonic struck a 2015 Hyundai Sonata driven by Valentina R. Stepanova, 56, of Pasco, the patrol said.

Stepanova was taken to a Pasco hospital for treatment of her injuries, the patrol said.

Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt; and neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, the patrol said.
