Amazon to open two facilities in Pasco

More than 1,500 packing and shipping jobs expected

PASCO – Amazon has announced that it will open two facilities in the city, bringing 1,500 jobs to the area.

The new buildings will be across from each other, with one at 1351 S. Road 40 East and the other at 1202 S. Road 40 East.

The new buildings here are coming on the heels of new facilities opened in the Geiger area near Medical Lake last year and one that opened last week in Spokane Valley.

The facilities, which are slated to open in 2022, will provide packing and shipping jobs paying a starting wage of $18 per hour, officials said.

At the 1,080,000-square-foot eastside facility, employees will be responsible for packing and household goods, books, toys and technology, officials said.

Across the street in the 1,049,000-square-foot building, workers fulfill orders for things like paper goods, pet food and supplies, patio furniture, baby strollers, and sports equipment like kayaks, skis and fishing gear, officials said.

"We're excited to open two new, state-of-the-art facilities in the city of Pasco,” Amazon Global Customer Fulfillment Senior Vice President Alicia Boler Davis said in a press release posted to social media. “Pasco offers a talented workforce, and we look forward to growing employment in the Tri-City region."

“We are proud of the partnership that we have built with Amazon to locate these new operations facilities in our community,” Pasco Mayor Saul Martinez said on social media. “This will have a long-term impact on Pasco, and it’s an opportunity to open new career paths in industries like logistics, retail, and technology with a company that is known for innovating.”

Benton-Franklin Transit General Manager Gloria Boyce is hopeful the new center will bolster bus ridership in the Tri-Cities.

“This is great news for Amazon and for Franklin County,” she said. “We are proud to support this investment in our region by providing a transit connection between the two new facilities.”
