Couple hospitalized after Connell area crash

CONNELL — A couple was hospitalized Saturday, June 5, after crashing his car five miles south of town.

Jose M. Hernandez, 28, of Los Angeles, Calif., was taken to an area hospital following his 7:44 a.m. crash near Milepost 51 of U.S. Highway 395, the Washington State Patrol reported. His passenger, Chelsey N. Arriola Morris, 25, of Walla Walla was also hospitalized.

Hernandez was charged with second-degree negligent driving in the crash, the patrol said, noting he was southbound in his 2004 Chrysler Pacifica when he lost control and the vehicle overturned.

Both driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said. Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors.
