Prosser motorcyclist injured in Wallula Junction crash

WALLULA JUNCTION — A Prosser motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital Saturday, April 24, after he was involved in a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and state Highway 730.

Luis E. Quiroa, 35, of Prosser, was westbound on Highway 730 on his 2011 Suzuki GSX-R100 at the time of the crash, the Washington State Patrol reported.

As he neared the U.S. Highway 12 interchange at about 2:10 p.m., an eastbound 2019 Chevrolet pickup towing a 2008 Logan horse trailer turned in front of him, the patrol reported. Quiroa couldn't stop and struck the truck-and-trailer.

The driver of the pickup, Anne C. Coote, 61, of Echo, Ore., was not injured in the crash, the patrol reported. Neither was her passenger, Richard M. Levy, 69, also of Echo, Ore.

LifeFlight was called in to airlift Quiroa to a Richland hospital; the crash prompted the closure of the westbound lane for several hours.

The patrol reported Quiroa was wearing a helmet and Coote and her passenger were wearing seatbelts.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash, the patrol reported, noted that charges are pending.
