82-year-old woman dies driving wrong way on I-182

RICHLAND – A Richland woman was driving the wrong way on the highway when she struck three cars and sent two into the median on Monday afternoon.

Edwina J. Steward, 82, of Richland, died from her injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol. She was driving a tan 2010 Kia Rio west on the Pentest Bridge in the eastbound lanes of Interstate-182.

Her car struck a gold 2003 Honda Accord in the left lane causing it to strike a maroon 2012 Volkswagen and a white 2009 Nissan Titan pickup.

Malia L. Manuo, 18, of West Richland, pulled her white 2014 Honda CR-V onto the median to avoid a collision. A black 2018 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Janice A. Elliott, 41, of Pasco, used the median to escape a collision, according to the state patrol. Both cars were damaged.

Kylie D. Cushing, 16, of Pasco, was driving the Honda Accord when she was injured in the collision. She was taken to Kadlec Medical Center.

Jannet N. Lamas, 22, of West Richland, was driving the Volkswagen, and Carmen S. Taylor, 44, of Tukwila, was driving the Nissan pickup. Neither driver was injured.
