RICHLAND — A Pasco man escaped injury after being involved in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Gil A. Paz Lopez, 40, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash on state Highway 240, near Swift Boulevard.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Monica Acheson, 47, of Richland, failed to stop behind Lopez, who was stopped at the traffic light. Her 2002 Nissan Altima rear-ended Lopez's 2007 Toyota Tacoma.

Lopez's vehicle was pushed into a third vehicle, a 2014 Honda CR-V driven by Edie Y. Howell, 58, of Benton City, the patrol said, noting Howell was not injured.

Acheson was taken to a local hospital, the patrol said.

She was cited for second-degree negligent driving, the patrol said.
