Train hauling corn derails
Cars remain; cause of derailment investigated

RICHLAND -- Eight train cars derailed July 31 just west of the Columbia Park Trail-state Highway 240 interchange.<!-10p->
As of this morning, Monday, Aug. 1, they had yet to be removed.<!-9p->
They train was carrying corn and does not pose any contamination risk, officials said. Nobody was injured in the derailment.<!-8p->
Records show the BNSF cars derailed about 4 p.m. Friday near the interchange east of the Yakima River.<!-7p->
The derailment is under investigation.
