  • Mea Culpa

    Dale Anderson, Columnist|Updated Jul 28, 2022

The first thing I need to do is apologize for something I said in the column last week about Root Sports. Evidently the information I received second or third hand was not right. Root has not been purchased by another satellite provider. It seems that the provider that we have chosen has not been able to come to terms with Root Sports. I want to say that I am sorry for the confusion and misinformation that I put in the column a week ago. But if that is the worst thing I did...

Surprisingly, recent U.S. Presidents and congressional Democrats and Republicans agree America’s economic and national security hinge upon tiny, yet powerful semiconductors. Semiconductor computer chips are the brains of modern electronics that operate our laptop computers, vehicles, and smart phones. They permeate every sector of our lives from farming and manufacturing to health care and public safety. They are embedded in our most advanced military equipment and weapons. So...

  • ENDORSEMENTS: Smiley, Culp

    Updated Jul 28, 2022

Franklin County voters have several candidates to choose from in the Aug. 2 primary election. While many candidates are busy trying to distinguish themselves for the right reasons, two congressional incumbents have made names for themselves for failing to represent the wishes of the Franklin County electorate. These same incumbents are career politicians – and it’s time for them to be swept aside. Luckily, there are challengers who are vowing to listen to their rural constituents and represent their wishes in Washington, D.C...

Reykdal unveiled his plans for ending standardized t...

  • Gardener program expands knowledge

Glenn Martin, WSU Master Gardener Program|Updated Jul 28, 2022

Being a volunteer in the Master Gardener Program has expanded my universe. The more I have participated in the program activities and educational offerings over the years, the more I realize there is always so much more to learn. I had been a backyard gardener for a number of years. Now, by incorporating all I’ve learned from other MGs and training through these past few years, I have more tools in my garden knowledge tool kit, and the quality of my garden is much improved. I...
