Candidates needed for elected offices

Special filing period to open from May 30 to June 1

PASCO — A special filing period has been opened for elected offices that do not have any candidates for the Aug. 1 primary election.

According to the Franklin County Auditor's Office, the special filing period will be from May 30 through June 1.

Positions that did not attract any candidates in the regular filing period include:

Star School District #54 — At-large school director positions Nos. 1, 2 and 3.

Mesa City Council — Positions Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 (mayor).

Franklin County Fire Protection District No. 1 — Position No. 1

Franklin County Fire Protection District No. 2 — Position No. 4

Franklin County Fire Protection District No. 5 — Positions Nos. 1, 2 and 3.

Franklin County Hospital District No. 1 — Position No. 1.

Basin City Water-Sewer District — Commissioner No. 2

"Persons willing to run for the open positions must file a 'Declaration of Candidacy,'" the Auditor's Office said in a press release.

Candidates may file online at http://www.franklincountywa.gov/elections or in-person from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 30-June 1 in the Franklin County Auditor’s Office, Elections Department
