Kennewick woman driving wrong way at time of crash, patrol says

RICHLAND — A Pasco man has died from injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle, head-on crash Saturday, Oct. 15.

Marshall E. Tapani, 26, of Pasco, died at Kadlec Regional Center following the 12:07 a.m. crash on State Highway 240.

Tapani was eastbound on the highway near Milepost 37 in a 2018 Toyota Camry when his vehicle was struck head-on by a 2006 Buick Rendezvous driven by Katie B. Torguson, 33, of Kennewick, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Torguson was allegedly driving the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Steptoe Street, the patrol said.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said.

Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be factors in the crash, the patrol said, noting charges are pending against Torguson, who was also injured and transported to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Kennewick WSP Bullpen towed both vehicles from the scene.
