Boy arrested in shooting death

OTHELLO – An Othello teenager is being held on $1 million bail in connection with the shooting death of a local man.

Arturo Pineda-Feliciano, 16, is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, court records show, noting he may be tried as an adult.

Pineda-Feliciano is accused of shooting 50-year-old Felipe Garza of Othello on June 26 in the 2200 block of rural West Charla Road, records show. Garza was initially taken to a local hospital, then transported to a Spokane medical center where he died from his injuries.

Pineda-Feliciano was apprehended at a Sunnyside hotel on June 28, records show. His younger brother, Gustavo Pineda-Feliciano, 14, was with him at the time of his arrest.

The younger brother was considered a runaway at the time and has been released to his parents, authorities said. He was not arrested.

Meanwhile, the Arturo Pineda-Feliciano, an alleged gang member who goes by the nickname “Suspect,” was booked into Martin Hall juvenile detention, where he remained at press time.
