PASCO — Two motorists were transported to different area hospitals following a crash on U.S. Highway 395 at Forster Wells Road today, Wednesday, July 14.

The crash occured at 11:39 a.m. when Rafael J. Garcia, 50, of Pasco, attempted to cross the highway from eastbound Foster Wells Road, the Washington State Patrol said.

Garcia's 2020 Chevrolet Silverado struck a 2016 Honday HR-V driven by Maria Garcia Munguia, 51, of Othello, the patrol reported. Munguia was northbound on U.S. Highway 395.

Garcia was transported to a Pasco hospital; Munguia was taken to a medical center in Richland, the patrol said.

Garcia was cited for second-degree negligent driving, the patrol said, noting the cause of the crash was "inattention."

Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash, and both drivers were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said.
