Jayden Laura arrested Feb. 6 in Pullman

PULLMAN – Washington State University starting quarterback Jayden de Laura was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence on
Saturday, Feb. 6, and has been suspended from the team.
The 19-year-old was allegedly spotted on College Hill running through a stop sign on Colorado Street and
driving the wrong way on Thatuna Street, Police Operations Cmdr. Jake Opgenorth said. De Laura was
stopped at 2:13 a.m.
He failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a Breathalyzer, but otherwise followed law
enforcement instructions, he said.
"He was very cooperative," Opgenorth said.
de Laura was released from jail on his personal recognizance shortly after being arrested.
WSU has suspended de Laura from the football team indefinitely, officials said. Cougar players recently returned for
the winter semester and physical conditioning.
As a true freshman, he started as quarterback for WSU in all four games last season.
He has served as a TV news director, managing editor for a daily newspaper and national magazines for motorcycles and ATVs. He built an online news service in Grant County and has more than 20 years of journalism experience in central Washington, from Oroville to Tri-Cities.
