Pasco man struck by car

Pedestrian was attempting to cross U.S. Highway 397.

KENNEWICK — A Pasco man was hospitalized Monday, Jan. 3, following a crash on U.S. Highway 397, near 10th Avenue.

Manuel Guiterez, 29, was injured when he was struck by a car while walking across the highway at about 6:49 p.m., the Washington State Patrol reported.

The car, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was driven by Alfredo J. Gonzalez, 67, of Kennewick, the patrol said, noting the driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Charges may be pending against Guiterez, the patrol reported, noting the cause of the crash was a pedestrian unlawfully in the roadway.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the incident, the patrol reported.
