PASCO — A Kennewick woman and a child in her verhicle were hospitalized New Year's Day after being involved in a three-vehicle crash.

Francelia Alvarez-Salgado, 45, and Jhalia Torres-Alvarez, 8, were taken to a local hospital after the 5:41 p.m. crash on Lewis Street.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Alvarez-Salgado was mergining onto U.S. Highway 395 to cross the Blue Bridge when her 2008 Nissan Sentra struck a 2015 Toyota Venza that had slowed for traffic.

The Venza was driven by Lynsey Nguyen, 23, of Kennewick; she was not injured, the patrol said.

The impact pushed the Venza into a third vehicle, a 2007 Nissan Maxima driven by Ilda A. Arreguin-Gonzalez, 44, of Pasco, the patrol said. She was not injured.
