Othello woman injured in unrelated collission

KITTITAS —An Othello man was taken to a Yakima hospital following a head-on crash on Interstate 90 on Christmas day.

Joaquin V. Garcia, 37, was taken to the hospital after the 7:16 p.m. crash near the Thorp Road exit, the Washington State Patrol said.

Garcia was eastbound in a 2009 Toyota Camry on I-90 when he crossed the centerline and struck a 1996 Freightliner towing a trailer in the westbound lane, the patrol said. Truck was driven by Ryne A. Haller, 61, hometown unknown.

Both vehicles came to a rest in the westbound lanes of the I-90, the patrol said. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

In an unrelated crash, an Othello woman was transported to Richland hospital on Christmas day.

Kelsey C. Williams, 23, was taken to the hospital after her 2016 Ford Escape was hit at 2:20 p.m. on eastbound state Highway 240, the patrol said.

Williams was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Selina K. Gilbert, 20, of West Richland, the patrol said.

Gilbert was cited for speeding too fast for conditions and causing the crash on the eastbound highway, the patrol said. Neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be factors.
