Two jailed in unrelated arson cases

Both men being held on minimum $20,000 bail

PASCO — Two men remain in the Franklin County Jail held on minimum $20,000 bail for their alleged involvement in unrelated arson.

Jail records Sunday, Dec. 6, show Ramon Augstine Sanchez, 70, of Pasco, and Jose Luis Loera, 31, of Kennewick, remain in jail following their arrests last week.

Sanchez is facing charges of threats to kill, first-degree arson and residential burglary, records show. Bail was set at $20,000 for the first-degree arson, but he’s also being held without bail for the threats to kill charge.

Loera is being held on $10,000 bail for first-degree arson and $10,000 bail for violation of a court order, records show.

Sanchez was arrested Sunday, Nov. 29, at a house in the 1500 block of West Shoshone Avenue after police responded to that location, records show.

According to police, Sanchez attempted to light a bed on fire in a room he rented out to a woman. Sanchez owns the home.

The woman called police after she watched him light the fire on an Arlo security system she had in her room connected to a remote location, records show.

Fire personnel also responded to the house and put out the blaze before it could spread, records show.

In an unrelated case, Loera was arrested at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at a home in the 700 block of North Elm Street , records show.

Pasco police responded to the home after he receiving a report Loera had tried to set a sofa on fire using a lighter and cologne, records show.

Loera was also in the home in violation of a no-contact order, records show.

Police arriving on scene arrested Loera without incident and booked him into the Franklin County Jail.
