Connell man remains in jail

Guzman-Gonzalez apprehended after trying to flee from police

KENNEWICK — A Connell man is still being held in the Benton County Jail on $43,000 bond for several alleged crimes

Andy Arnonld Guzman-Gonzalez, 22, was booked in the Benton County Jail on Nov. 13, police records show.

He is being held on charges of resisting arrest, failure to comply and manufacturing/possession of a control substance with intent to deliver, jail records showed Sunday, Nov. 22.

According to a police report, Guzman-Gonzalez allegedly contacted undercover detectives on Nov. 12, offering to sell them fentanyl. They agreed to arrange a meeting on Clearwater Avenue.

During the meeting, police attempted to arrest him, but he fled, records show. Officers pursued and a K-9 unit was called in to track him.

After his arrest, detectives determined Guzman-Gonzalez was offering the drugs in his possession as a guise to also rob them.

"The community is reminded that people offering to purchase and sell illegal narcotics often carry weapons and are willing to inflict violence on people," a statement released by the Police Department said.
