Connell's Radke signs with Eagles volleyball

CHENEY – Connell volleyball standout Alyssa Radke of Mesa was one of four players to sign letter of intent to play for the Eastern Washington University volleyball team on the first day of the national period, Nov. 11.

All four players are from the Pacific Northwest – two from Washington and two from Oregon.

"Our 2021 class is a group of hard-working, ambitious and talented women," Eastern head volleyball coach Leslie Flores-Cloud, said in a news release announcing the signings. "They have been dialed in to EWU volleyball for quite some time and are ready to jump in and become Eagles."

Radke lettered in volleyball all four years at Connell High School.

As a sophomore and a junior, Radke was named first-team, All-South Central Athletic Conference East Athletic Conference.

In 2018, she earned an honorable mention All-State nod before making the second team as a junior. Radke also helped Connell win league championships in 2017 and 2019.

"Alyssa is a stud from Connell, she hits with so much velocity," Flores-Cloud said. "I cannot wait to work with her to hone in her skills to play in our EWU system. She will surely be a great attacker for us."

Radtke is the daughter of Randie and Paul Radke.

She intends on majoring in biology with aspirations of becoming a surgeon.

Signing letters of intent with Radtke were Sadie Bacon, Makenna Collins and Adia Messenger.

Bacon played for Issaquah High School while Collins was at Baker Allprep Early College in Irrigon, Ore. and Messenger at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Ore.

Flores-Cloud is entering her third season as Eastern's head coach.
