Nearly 14,000 ballots have yet to be counted
PASCO — Embattle Franklin County Commissioner Lowell "Brad" Peck appears to have survived a challenge from a Democrat and from within his own Republican party.
Preliminary results from tonight's general election show Peck leading Democrat Kim Lehrman and write-in Republican Steve Bauman in the District No. 1 race.
Peck had an initial tally of 11,897 votes to Lehrman's 10,317 and write-ins totalling 4,391.
The Republican party backed Bauman after Peck backed out of Franklin County Commission vote to reopen the state amid the coronavirus quarantine orders and allegations of malfeasance.
According to the Office of the Secretary of State, the county has tallied 27,145 ballots in the race; out 41,902 that were mailed to voters county-wide.
That leaves up to 13,763 late-arriving ballots remaining to be counted.
Late-arriving ballots will be counted later this week and possibly into next week.
