Mullen holds commanding lead

PASCO — Republican political newcomer Rocky Mullen is well on his way to being a Franklin County commissioner.

After Tuesday night's initial tally of ballots, Mullen had a comfortable 16,364-10,657 vote lead over Democrat Ana Ruiz Peralta.

Mullen had 60.48% of the vote to Peralta's 39.38% of the 27,059 ballots counted, so far.

The winner of the race will replace Robert "Bob" Koch, who did not seek re-election, and join Commissioner Clint Didier on the county's governing board.

The county mailed out 41,902 ballots to registered voters in the Nov. 3 general election.

County officials could still count more than 13,000 late-arriving ballots in the coming days.
