Proposed bear season changes

Modifications to season dates, permit numbers and area limits

OLYMPIA – The state Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking public comment on a proposed spring black bear season rule change.

The proposed rule modifies season dates, permit numbers in some areas and removes two private timberland properties from the North Skagit hunt.

“We need your feedback on the proposed rule to better understand how the public feels about adjusting season dates and permit numbers in some areas,” Game Division Manager Anis Aoude said. “We’ll use this information to guide how we offer spring black bear opportunities in 2021.”

The survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DKDY6SD; comments are due by Oct. 29.

Comments may be emailed to wildthing@dfw,wa,gov, or mailed to WDFW Rules Coordinator, P.O. Box 43200, Olympia, WA 98504-3200.

A public hearing on the rule update is scheduled for the Dec. 3-5 state Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting.
