West Richland man faces DUI, eluding charges

DAYTON — A West Richland man was hospitalized here early this morning, Oct. 19, after crashing his motorcycle while allegedly attempting to elude law enforcement.

The condition of Paul E. Hines, 51, was not immediately available.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Hines was fleeing a Garfield County Sheriff's Office deputy at the time of the crash on U.S. Highway 12, about 17 miles east of the city.

Hines, who was riding a 2007 Honda VFR 800, failed to make a curve, ran off the highway and crashed down an embankment, the patrol said.

The rider is expected to face charges of eluding and driving while under the influence, the patrol said.

The motorcycle was removed from the crash scene by Kyle's Towing.
