Kennewick woman injured in I-182 crash

PASCO — A 58-year-old Kennewick woman was transported to a local hospital this morning, Sept. 14, following a 6:54 a.m. crash near Milepost 14 of Interstate 182.

Yamila Chirino Romero was taken to the hospital after the vehicle in which she was a passenger was struck from behind, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The crash occurred when Jesus Penaloza Perez, 56, of Kennewick slowed his 2005 Hyundai Elantra for eastbound traffic, the patrol said. That's when his car was rear-ended by Ronald B. Excell, 34, of Benton City.

Excell, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic, was cited for following too close.

Neither Excell nor Perez were injured; both drive their vehicles away from the scene, the patrol said. All those involved were wearing seatbelts, and neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
