PASCO — An Othello man was hospitalized early this morning, Aug. 11, after he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his vehicle.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Bryan Romero-Morales, 19, was taken to an area hospital following a 1:40 a.m. crash.

Romero-Morales was westbound on U.S. Highway 12, nearing Lewis Street, when he fell asleep and his 2008 Chevrolet Uplander left the roadway and overturned, coming to rest in the median, the patrol said.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and neither drugs nor alcohol were factors, the patrol said.

Romero-Morales was cited for second-degree negligent driving and driving without insurance, the patrol said, noting the cause of the crash as "driver fatigue."

Bradley's Towing removed the vehicle from the crash scene.
