Local woman injured in crash

PASCO — A woman was hospitalized Monday, Aug. 3, following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 182.

Veronica Vargas Garcia, 28, of Pasco, was a passenger in a vehicle in the 4:30 p.m. crash that resulted in her being transported.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Rocio Vargas, 23, of Pasco, was eastbound in a 1998 Honda Accord when traffic slowed in front of him and he rear-ended a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Laura E. Vandermeer, 33, of Mesa.

Vandermeer's pickup then rear-ended a 2020 Nissan Rogue, driven by Maria D. Ramirez, 29, of Quincy, the patrol reported.

All four were wearing seatbelts, and neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.

Vargas was cited for following too close, the patrol said, noting his vehicle was removed by AE Towing of Pasco.

The other two vehicles were driveable after the crash, the patrol said.
