OTHELLO — A 15-year-old girl was taken to the hospital for injuries she sustained in a rural Franklin County crash at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23.

Briseida Amrbocio of Othello was a passenger in a 2002 Honda Civic when it was rear-ended on state Highway 17, about 5 miles south of Othello, the Washington State Patrol reported. Although she was wearing a seatbelt, she sustained injuries and was taken to the local hospital.

According to the patrol, the crash occurredn when Toyota driver Abelina Silva Gonzalez, 39, of Othello, slowed to turn left onto a gravel road. The driver behind her, Cesar Arellano Cuenca, 19, of Beverly, failed to stop and rear-ended the Gonzalez vehicle.

Cuenca was driving a 2009 Kenworth truck towing a 1986 Westin trailer, the patrol reported.

Neither Gonzalez nor Cuenca was injured, the patrol reported. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash.

The patrol cited Cuenca for following too close.
