Gov. Inslee threatens Slidewaters with 'penalties'

Threat comes after governor wins round in court

OLYMPIA — Gov. Jay Inslee says he will pursue sanctions against a business that challenged the legality of his coronavirus-related shutdown orders.

During a Thursday afternoon, July 16, press conference, the governor gloated in a court victory in Spokane in which a judge dismissed the Chelan-based Slidewaters lawsuit against him.

“The court firmly dismissed a court challenge,” he said.

The lawsuit alleged the governor had overstepped his authority and in doing so would be forcing the owners to remain closed.

Slidewaters had sought an injunction to prevent the governor from continuing his assault on constitutional rights. At the same time, the water park opened for business.

“There will be penalties associated with that noncompliance,” the governor threatened.

Slidewaters is expected to appeal the decision.
